Week 1 of Community Testing for the Metis decentralized sequencer was extremely succesful. Thousands of contributors participated throughout the first six days of the initiative.
Community Testing for the Metis Decentralized Sequencer was launched on Monday, January 15th, and has attracted over 50,000 Testnet contributors! The initiative aiming to stress-test the decentralized sequencer and pave the way for Mainnet launch has also had a great impact on Metis Mainnet, as TPS raised over 2,000% to 9.36, placing Metis as the Top 3 Ethereum L2 in terms of Transactions per Second (TPS).
To keep it simple, Week 1 was a complete success. Both Testnet and Mainnet saw a sharp increase in activity, with over 50,000 contributors participating in Community Testing, and TPS on Mainnet raising by 2,200%. The architecture being tested worked successfully, being able to account for over 300 sequencer rotations. On the dApps side, four out of the six participating dApps were able to fully deploy their products on Metis Sepolia, except Tethys Finance and League.Tech. Since then, Tethys has fixed the underlying issues and even became the top dApp in terms of points earned.League.Tech, on the other hand, has decided to step away from Community Testing to focus on a seamless Mainnet deployment. This won’t affect the total number of participant protocols, as ENKI Protocol, the upcoming Metis native Liquid staking solution, will join the initiative for Week 2. The full list of participating protocols is now:
Sequencer Rotations: 300
Unique Contributors: More than 50,000
Number of Transactions: More than 1,500,000
Total Points earned: 166,000,000
Top dApp based on points earned: Tethys Finance
Five out of six days, the official Metis handle shared a riddle or question that offered a specific boost. These have been the boosters, with answers and points included:

(150 points)
Answer: All Optimistic Rollups.
Winners:@Osekbcn
What are the two components needed for an Ethereum Layer 2 to inherit Ethereum's underlying security?
(+150 points)
Answer: A decentralized proving system and a decentralized sequencer.
Winners:N/A
Before decentralizing the sequencer, _________________ will go back to being stored on ________.
(+150 points)
Answer: Data Availability, Ethereum.
Winners:@A_dot_B_
All participants who won will be contacted by @MetisDAO via X on Monday morning (EST) to add booster points to these users’ total XP amount.
For Week 2, liquidity will be replenished on all participant DApps to ensure a seamless UX. As previously mentioned, LeagueTech will be replaced with ENKI, which will allow users to interact with the upcoming Metis-native LSD platform before anyone else. On a separate note, boosters from Week 2 will carry more points than those from Week 1. We’d highly encourage everyone to turn notifications ON for our X handle since one booster could be the difference between first and second place!
THE ARCHITECTURE WORKS. Week 1 of Community Testing attracted over 50,000 contributors which added more than 1,500,000 total transactions to Mainnet, helping Metis developers stress-test the decentralized sequencer architecture. The initiative also contributed to a great improvement in Mainnet numbers, as Transactions Per Second (TPS) went up as high as 9.36, and it’s weekly average was 2.36. We are immensely grateful of the support we’ve gotten from contributors and the overall Metis community. The decentralized sequencer is coming soon.
