Welcome to the Metis Guide series Metisian! In this edition, we are set to explore the process of bridging between Metis and various other blockchains using Synapse, an external bridge integrated with Metis.
Before starting the bridging execution make sure you have added Metis to your wallet (Metamask in this example). If you have not added Metis to your Metamask wallet yet, you can go to https://chainlist.org/chain/1088 and select ADD TO METAMASK to be able to access the Network from your wallet.
The following steps outline the process for bridging from BNB Chain to Metis. Here is a list of third-party bridges from other popular chains that support Metis.
Step 1 - Visit Synapse website and click the select “Connect Wallet” button located in the top right corner. Follow the prompts on Metamask to establish a connection between Synapse and your wallet.
Step 2 - Choose the wallet that you are using and want to connect. We will use Metamask for this example.
Tap on “Enter Bridge” to open the bridging window.
Step 3 - Select the source network (BNB or other blockchains) you are sending the cryptocurrency from and select Metis as the destination. Ensure that your third-party bridge supports Metis.
Step 4 - Enter the amount you would like to bridge to Metis and ensure that you selected the correct chain/ network on your wallet and that your wallet is connected to the same network as the source chain. Click on the “Switch to BNB Chain” button if you have not.
Step 5 - Before starting the bridging process, please double-check that you have selected the correct source and destination chain to avoid any potential loss of funds. Then tap on the asset to enable the transaction.
Step 6 - Click “Confirm” transaction on your wallet and wait for the transaction to be sent to your Metamask wallet.
Once the transaction is verified in your wallet, navigate to the confirmation page or block explorer. Monitor the status of your transaction by visiting your transaction page. Congratulations! You have successfully bridged to Metis from the BNB Chain!
The most crucial step in bridging is to double-check the source and destination chain and verify the amount of the tokens you would like to send before approving the transaction.
